The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988)
Should I see it?
If you have spare time.



Sally Salt (Sarah Polley), a young girl, follows the mystical Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von Munchausen a.k.a. Baron Munchausen (John Neville) up to the moon, through the center of the Earth and into the stomach of a sea monster as he tries to compile his group of fellow adventurers.

Terry Gilliam (The Fisher King, Brazil, Monty Python And The Holy Grail) overplays his talent and delivers a cramped and distracted piece that manages more smiles than laughs. Like many of his other films, this is more interesting for its design than its story.

Should I see it?
Are you kidding? You have to ask? Really?



No seriously, you can't figure this one out for yourself?









What?








Okay, fine. The answer is no. Don't bother seeing this terrible, unneeded, wasteful production. If you are over the age of, say, six, and this speaks to you, you need to go live in a home. You probably shouldn't be allowed to make independent decisions and walk the streets.

Movie Trailer: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
I want to thank Roland Emmerich for giving us the specific shot of the destruction of a recognizable public monument (The White House in Independence Day, the Statue of Liberty in Cloverfield and Emmerich's The Day After Tomorrow, the Eiffel Tower in this film) as a touchstone for bloated McMovies. Here the simple rule: if you see a piece of architecture you recognize being destroyed, the movie has a 99% chance of stinking. The leaping ninjas and the fact this is based on a collection of dolls and cartoons go to support this conclusion.

Stigmata (1999)
Should I see it?
No.



Catholic bigotry at it feverish worst. The Catholic Church is convicted of carrying on an international conspiracy to keep the world from knowing the true path to God by burying the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Based on loopy Gnostic texts and half-truths this film is a shameful attack on Christianity. Even if you hate Christians and don’t mind the bigotry in the piece, you should still steer clear. This is simply a poorly made movie.

More uninspired Adam Sandler bunk. He's put out so many mediocre films I think of him as our generation's Dan Ackroyd - should be better but his presence almost guaranties a bad product.
