Movie Trailer: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Wes Anderson is one of the most over-rated directors of the last twenty years.

Now his quirky, self-aware style has been meshed with cheap looking animation.

Geez, pinch me. I must be dreaming.

Kyle Smith was absolutely gaga about the movie so I went to see it. What annoyed my wife and I was the moral idiocy. The story was the usual anti-big-business plot number 2a, but that wasn't what really got us. The animals lie and steal from the evil capitalist humans but excuse it because "we're animals".

These days, humans "are just animals" particularly if you buy into the "Naked ape" school of thought which underlies the dominant culture. So naturally, if someone you don't like is making too much money, rip them off.

The only real operable morality in the screenplay is the pragmantic one of "you might get caught or get your butt kicked and that would upset your family." This is the morality of the police state, not a free society.

So once again, an animated movie mixes humans and animals to provide a "lesson" on how much humans suck. Boo yah.
