Should I see it?No.
If you're really into listening to the unintentionally laughable musings of a wealthy, over-hyped German over mostly boring footage of his trip to Antarctica, you're in luck. Given far more praise than his works demand, Werner
Herzog is one of the cherished few of hard core film geeks. Personally, I find most of his works to be embarrassingly self indulgent at some points and downright egotistical in others. In this outing,
Herzog films the glories of Antarctica. The problem? None of his footage is really that spectacular these days since you can find better material nightly on cable television. Don't get me wrong, some of his shots are pleasing but there was nothing that struck me as being so brilliant that I feel compelled to recommend this to you. Add to this that the audience is forced to listen to his
pompous rambling about his experiences and random thoughts - turn on the National Geographic Channel* and leave this behind.
*- Then again don't. They practically run
Herzog's pitiful
The Grizzly Man in a loop and they do it with a straight face.
