The Grand

More awkward than funny...wait, that's not an apt description since it implies it's funny - how about just plain awkward?

Zak Penn (Incident at Loch Ness) helms this improvised movie about the misfits who partake in a poker tournament. This is a jumbled production that consists of a series of toneless scenes that I'm guessing were supposed to be humorous. They may have been funny on the set but fails the translation to the screen. Improv is more difficult than it appears and you should expect some disjointness in the movie because of the wandering nature of the dialog. Usually there's at least some moments of ingenuity in films such as this (Christopher Guest's scenes in Waiting for Guffman as example) but the cast comes up dry. Don't bother with this one.
