Be wary of any trailer that gives you the whole movie. The whole film should be able to be sold in sixty-seconds, not told in sixty-seconds.
This looks like more of the same from the people who brought you
Facing the Giants: suburban Christianity wrapped in a easy narrative. As a Christian myself, I don't take issue with the concepts presented here (we'll see what the actual movie has in store). I'm sure
the Fireproof your marriage site the film promotes is an honorable and well-meaning project that is worth checking out. What I have a problem with is the delivery. One view of this trailer and it is clear that this appears to be yet another well intentioned "Christian film" that only serves to speak to the members of the faith. This may be a good movie, but I am concerned that the delivery will be too overt as it was with
Facing the Giants. Non-Christians need to get our messages as well. I have concerns that films like this will not translate to those audiences. If this is your kind of movie, I suggest seeing the film, it will probably have some good messages.

Have you seen it yet?
Nope. Not yet, the opinions I am stating are based on the marketing material, including the trailer along with my knowledge of film, marketing and how these things are combined. Adding in the track record of those involved in this project.
I know my stance on the film may seem presumptuous - well, okay it is presumptuous but I can tell clearly from what I am seeing what is coming. I would love to be proven wrong, I would honestly love to be surprised and find this film to be a thoughtful, adult work. Given the evidence, I do not see how this is possible and how this is anything but more of the same hapless Christian product we've seen so many times before.
had the same reservations until I saw a pre-screening....good production...believable action and pretty good humor...give it a try
had reservations myself until I saw a pre-screening...good production with action and humor...the story has depth to it...not as predictable as you might think...try it
Lucy,
I sincerely hope you're right in your opinion. I'd be thrilled to eat some crow, apologize for my assessment and promote this film.
follow up with some C.S. Lewis, Charles Spurgeon, or John Piper, that should clear things up for you.
You forgot Chesterton.
Check out Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort - Way of the Master is something to look into. http://www.wayofthemaster.com/
I have seen the movie 3 times and personally it provides a challenge to Christians and non-believers to submit fully to God - repenting and fully trusting in Jesus Christ each day. I also think the movie tries to get to the root of today's modern concept of Christianity and I agree that is much different than the authors of which you list. It does this in the context of marriage, which is a covenant in dire need of a true Godly representation. Could I send you a DVD copy of the film?
