Movie Watching Tip: Actors as Pitchmen
I usually don't have any sympathy for actors. The exception is when they're in press junkets. I believe that most of the money actors make is paid because in order to be in the cast of a big budget movie you have to suffer through the marketing process. When you see an actor sitting on a comfortably lit stage with the movie poster behind them, that person is having a long day.

To promote the film the brand name actors are stuck sitting in a chair for long stretches and have a parade of "journalists" (read anyone with a press badge - not exactly a tightly maintained group) ask them inane questions about the product. Imagine having to sit their for an afternoon answering the same mindless question again and again while pretending to be gracious and friendly. Perhaps I'm just a crank but that sounds awful.

In some cases the monotony of the junket can be broken up by a particularly awkward interview.

When you see an actor talking about their movie remember that they're just schilling another product. Sitting through interviews of actors is no different that like letting the Vince the Sham-Wow Guy.
