Le Violon Rouge "The Red Violin" (1998)
Should I see it?
Yes.

François Girard (Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould) directs this artsy piece that follows the “life” of a particular violin through the years. Utilizing the scene from a high stakes auction as the anchor, this film freely bounces across centuries and continents. Each of the stories about the various owners of the violin throughout time is interesting and well done.

This is not a film for those who simply love fire and explosions. If you can get into a calm, yet well-constructed film that speaks to your mind instead of your eyes, this is a good movie for you.
