We all know that when we're told a simple story like a fairytale that it ends with "the moral of the story". This is a brief tagline that explains the lesson learned by hearing the story. Often films contain this summation as well. At the end of a film, sometime after the villain of the movie has been defeated someone, usually the hero or an older character will have the full attention of the camera. The action will stop for the briefest of moments and the character will make a declarative statement. An example of this is at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl when, following the defeat of Norrington, the Governor claims that "sometimes an act of piracy is what's needed". This line explains the lesson of the movie which is that social are pliable and are meant to be broken from time to time. Of course if rules are meant to be broken, then they're not really rules are they? But they don't get into that. The next time you watch a movie with Morgan Freeman or Michael Caine in it, watch for this line, they invariably are the one's who deliver it.Labels: miscellaneous, movie watching tip
