The Thing (1982)
Should I see it?
Yes.

Now, this is how you "re-envision" a movie. I consider John Carpenter's reworking of the 1951 classic monster movie The Thing from Another World one of the best horror movies ever made. He
remolds the story into something believable and haunting.

A group of scientists working in an outpost in the South Pole are attacked by an alien that acts as a doppelgänger. The shape-shifting alien forces the scientists to fall into paranoid, survival mode since they don't know who's real and who's been replaced by the creature. Carpenter plays the paranoia perfectly to the very end and his alien is just plain creepy.

Kurt Russell anchors the film with a variation on his Snake Plissken persona.

The film has maintained itself well over the years and still can give a shock or two. If you haven't seen it, and you can handle the sight of blood - lots of blood - you should give it a chance.
