I was a big fan of this movie when it came out. Now it's just a sterile exercise to me. The "if you don't understand it, it must be deep" ending is particularly annoying now. I keep thinking, if you have something to say, just frikken say it.
C'mon, you mean to tell me you're not a fan on pondering works that are as quick as a turtle on sleeping pills?
When it came out, the shear unadulterated coolness of what the future was going to be made it great to just sit back and emerse yourself in the effects and the music. Of course, now that we know it was all BS it's lost virtually all of that awesomeness and is just, as Pauline Kael wrote, a movie about a malfunctioning computer with a twist ending.
