Helvetica (2007)
Should I see it?
Yes.

Like Wordplay and The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, this documentary takes the seemingly commonplace and reveals its brilliance. The topic of this film, the use of a font, may seem like a boring subject but through great editing and informative interviews this film makes it compelling. The hidden manipulation of marketing and the thinking behind simple signage is unpacked. This film proves that even the most banal things in this world are fascinating if presented in their full context.

If you love documentaries, in particular quirky ones and/or one’s that inform, this lighthearted but intelligent film is a good pick.
