Caveman's Valentine

Samuel L. Jackson portrays Romulus an insane homeless guy who also just happens to be a brilliant musician (in Hollywood being homeless and/or insane isn't interesting enough, they always have to be ultra-talented as well - call it the Rain Man Syndrome). Romulus battles his hallucinations to hunt down the killer of a boy who freezes to death near the cave he calls home.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons, the film gets too wrapped up in residing in Romulus' disorder that it fails to build a useful narrative. Lemmons has some good moments and does a solid job of presenting Jackson's performance in a good light but she simply gets too wrapped up in the details and forgets to focus on the larger goal - telling a compelling story.
