Movie Trailer: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The fact is that Lucas has already reduced this whole franchise into a incoherent mess that exists purely to sell fast food soda cups, Legos and action figures, they may as well just turn it into a cartoon. There's been nothing I've seen of this production that makes me think this was made for any other reason than to sell more crap at Wal Mart. Expect to see more of this as the years go on and expect little of it to be worth seeing. I will be shocked if this turns out to be a respectable effort.

Screenwriter: Henry Gilroy
Director: Dave Filoni

"they may as well just turn it into a cartoon."

They already did. There was a miniseries that aired on Cartoon Network right before Episode III came out. It won a few Emmy Awards.

Personally, I like it better than any of the prequel trilogy films because it's a fun, unpretentious action fest. Coincidentally, Lucas had almost no involvement in it.

This film (and the tv series that will follow it) is a much more thorough retelling of the same time period that the cartoon miniseries skimmed the surface of. Completely unnecessary, too, but as you said, Lucas is going to keep milking this cash cow until it's dead.

Thanks for the correction - I admit to no knowledge of the cable based series.

The best thing that can happen to the franchise is to get Lucas' fumbling hands as far away from it as possible.
