Robocop (1987)
Should I see it?
No.

It was better back when it was released. Trust me, its not as good as you remember. Peter Weller stars in this self-aware film about a half-robot/half-man cop. The graphic violence isn’t nearly as disturbing as the pompous “social commentary” that drags the film down. If you’ve already seen the film, do not watch it again. You will only ruin the memory.

I do have to say that Kurtwood Smith is so absolutely perfect in his role as the smarmy villain Clarence J. Boddicker. "Guns! Guns! Guns!"

This is one of the first wave of far left openly anti-capitalist movies which set the stage for the 90s and 00s as a time of dominant leftist culture.

It brings in a foreign director to do the dirty work - and opened up the possibility for Hollywood to make leftist propaganda for the US while still turning a buck - thanks to overseas sales where anti-Americanism and a foreign director will sell tickets.
