The Carnival of Cinema: Episode 72 - Blog Simple
Welcome to the Carnival of Cinema, a weekly display of the web’s best posts on cinema. If you’re looking for movie reviews, film commentary or industry advice, you’ve hit the right spot.

Getting us started this week, MANNY THE MOVIE GUY talks up Iron Man. He believes this film will give a much needed lift to Robert Downey Jr.’s career.

Geez, going to jail on drug-related charges can hurt a career?

If the latest big McMovie doesn’t turn your crank, perhaps you’d be more inclined to enjoy a film involving French people, a Baroque organ, and a hotel. But where can you film such a film? Well, Alain Resnais's Last Year at Marienbad comes to the rescue. For more on this movie head over to SMALL & BIG and get the info. from P.L. Frederick.

Speaking of organs...

Next, Kevin from POINTLESS BANTER has a list of the five ways you can tell that you are watching an adult movie.

On a kinda related note, let’s see what’s happening over at ART & MASTURBATION. Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay is what’s happening. Click on the link to read Carl Franzen’s review.

Let’s leave the lower rungs of the human body and concentrate more on brainy stuff.

TherapyDoc returns to the Carnival. This time out she looks at Laws of Attraction. Hurry over to EVERYONE NEEDS THERAPY for more.

Next, Deb Serani of DR. DEB has a post that offers the opinion that Christopher McCandless experienced schizophrenia, not wanderlust, in the 2007 movie, Into the Wild.

You can’t have smart stuff in the Carnival without turning to WESTMINSTER WISDOM. Brainiac Gracchi joins us this week with a review of In Burges.

This post is presented in Ariel font. I like Ariel font, it’s clean and easily legible. Helvetica is another common font – so common, there’s a movie about it. That’s right, there’s a documentary about a font. Nigel Beale has a post inspired by the movie over at his site GUARDIAN UNLIMITED: ARTS BLOG – BOOKS.

If there is one thing in this world there isn’t a shortage of it is documentaries. For another one check out King Corn which is about a couple of guys and an acre of corn. Doesn’t sound like much? Well, read Sara Ost’s interview with the documentary’s director Aaron Woo
lf on her site ECOSALON.

Documentaries are meant to show truth – well, they used to, not so much anymore. The two above seem pretty interesting however.

War movies ain’t what they used to be. Or, as Paul from WE OP-ED would say:

Head over to his site and see why these movies haven’t done so well.

Moving along, Blue Sunshine has a review of the 1983 horror film Sole Survivor that Final Destination borrowed more than few ideas from. You can read all about it over at MISCGARBAGE.COM.

Tamika M. Murray from PJSANDAMOVIE has an appreciation for Nick Swardson…you know, -Nick Swardson…that guy from Blades of Glory? Reno 911? No?

Ok, here’s the guy Tamika likes:

Time to wrap this thing up for the week. Let’s go out with a look at the 10 most amazing outdoor home theaters. Andy Boyd has the list over at GEEKABOUT.

...and CUT and PRINT!
